MALAGA — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Malaga County Water District’s official customer notice says scheduled water and sewer rate adjustments took effect July 1, 2026 after a Proposition 218 hearing held September 23, 2025.
Public record and practical context
The district says higher operating and infrastructure expenses, including repairs, utility power and regulatory compliance, underpin the changes. Individual bills can depend on meter size, usage and sewer equivalent-service-unit calculations.
The announcement does not reproduce all rate tiers, so the appropriate comparison is the full adopted rate schedule, not an invented uniform percentage. Residents should examine their own billing statement and the official hearing notice.
Customers who believe an account has been billed incorrectly can contact the district at 559-485-7353 and request the detailed adopted schedule.
The July rate change is separate from the district’s January 2026 drinking-water notice and its annual water-quality report.
